The National Museum of Science and Technology has inspired children and teenagers to eat eggs in a two-day long program. The event ended on Monday with the presentation of scientific information on the benefits of eating eggs, nutritional value of eggs, disadvantages of not eating eggs, etc. to motivate the students to eat eggs. About 100 students from Government Titumir College and Milestone School and College participated in the program. To inspire the children, science lectures were held with the students. Not only the students but also the teachers were encouraged to put eggs in the canteen of their own educational institutions as an essential food. The students present at the science lecture talked about the benefits of eating eggs and promised that they will eat eggs regularly from now on. Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology Mohammad Munir Chowdhury has organized a quiz competition on the benefits of eating eggs by presenting some scientific tips on eggs. Through these quizzes, students are being taught whether duck eggs or chicken eggs contain more protein, what are the special nutritional value of eggs, which eggs contain beneficial cholesterol and so on. Apart from lectures and quizzes, in the two-day long program, there were mobile science display for students, cosmic object displays, boarding on the Titanic, aerial zones and solar gardens through virtual reality. Students who took part in the competition were also given special souvenirs by the Science Museum. Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology, said, “Lately, students have almost stopped eating eggs, which are rich in protein, beneficial omega-3 and fatty acids, which play a vital role in developing children's intelligence, enhancing eyesight and preventing blindness.” He added, "Corporate companies have chosen children as targets of greed without presenting them with scientific information. As a result, children are giving up eating eggs and drowning in cold drinks and fast-food rich in harmful substances. The next generation is going to become an incompetent sick nation. Science museums have not only been limited to exhibitions but have also taken on the role of health awareness. From now on, eggs will be served as entertainment items to the students who come to the science museum.”
